Irfaan News
1st
issue, November 2002.

Dear Parents,
Children and other Readers,
Asalam Alaykum
Wa Rahmatulhi Wa Barakatu,
A new school
year, a new school, a new beginning!!!
I would like to
extend to you all a warm welcome to our new school. With almost 2 months behind
us we can admit that a beginning is not easy.
Alhamdullillah we overcame most of our initial problems and we thank you
for your continuous patience, your comments and advice. We were encouraged by
your friendliness during the first parents evening and we are most proud that
you have entrusted us with your most valuable possession: your children. We
have, by now, reached a comfortable routine and teachers and children have
started to feel like a big family. Because this is indeed what we try to provide
for your child: a home away from home. A place where every child feels safe,
loved and respected. Only in such environment a child can truly learn and
develop him/herself into a successful, stable and above all: happy human being.
For this purpose
we have done our utmost to select for your child the very best teachers and the
most suitable learning methods. We have chosen put a heavy emphasis on the
English language without ignoring Arabic, the language of the Holy Qur’an.
In this issue we
would like to introduce to you our teachers. Please feel free to come to meet
them in person. If you want to be certain to meet a particular teacher, it is
always better to call the school in advance so that necessary arrangements can
be made. We are looking forward to a cooperative year!!!
Wa Aleykum
Asalam Wa Rahmatulahi Wa Barakatu,
The owners of the school are Mr. Zaid and Mrs. Kawthar. Our financial advisor Mr. Zaid, we hope will guard us from the greater financial disasters. Inshallah he will keep us afloat this year. He is the one that checks our accounts and makes sure we get our salaries. He is always willing to lend a helping hand where necessary. A great boss we have!!
Mrs. Kawthar is the brain behind
anything educational. Usually she is not in
the school during school hours, for she works at Mazoon College,
but don’t underestimate her. She can think of little else than the
school and she is a big expert on learning methods, teaching and a whole lot
more. She carries a Masters Degree in Education from one of the top teaching
universities in the United States.
Our ‘Mudira’
seems to be in the school all the time. The smile on her face is as bright in
the end of the day as it was in the morning. Never tired, never loosing her
temper, comforting everybody and beloved by everybody: teachers, drivers,
children….
The secretary of
the school and oh so quiet. She works like a horse and you have no idea what she
is doing until she is absent. Without her in the office, nobody knows what to
do.
.

The Arabic
teachers:
Ms. Thuraya, Ms.
Karima (grade 1), Ms. Hayat (grade 2), Ms. Shafiqa (grade 3) and Mrs. Amal
(grade 4) make sure that the children get their daily portion of Arabic, Islam,
Social Studies, Science, Math and even French. All of them are experienced
teachers who worked before in Oman and abroad.
The KG
teachers:
Mrs.
Ibtisam (KG
1), Mrs Aisha (KG 2A) and Mrs Asma (KG 2B), make sure that our little ones
receive a pleasant introduction to school life. A child must love the school in
order to be successful later on. With lots of toys, games and other fun things
to do, there should be no problem to achieve this goal.
The English
teachers:
Mrs.Amina
(English language), Ms. Sumaya (Math), Mrs. Esther (Science, Math and Music), and Mrs. Rafia ( Library and Music)
together spend in total more than 15 periods per week with each class. The
result in less than 2 months is already impressive. Reading skills in the higher
classes have improved very nicely and talking skills have improved above all
expectations in all classes.
Last but not
least:
Mr. Mahmoud is
in charge of Physical Education and even during break and lunch time he enjoys
himself, together with loads of kids, on the playground with the basket ball. He
is hoping to take the kids for swimming soon. We have not been able to get a
pool yet but arrangements are underway to provide a temporary solution.
Not to be
forgotten:
Mr. Ismail, Mrs.
Noura, who take care of everything
else. Without them the school would not be clean, nothing would be repaired and
so on. And if Mr. Salah and his fellow drivers wouldn’t go around with their
busses every morning and afternoon, few children would be able to come to school
at all.
The first week on November, we will start extra classes in the evening
from 6:30- 8:30. This will be to accommodate students that may need extra help..
Anyone that is interested may contact the Principal’s office.
November -
Ramadan. During Ramadan school timings will be adapted. You will be informed in
a separate letter about the details. Fasting is a time to reflect about our
religion and our Blessed Prophet (SAW). The teachers will be implementing this
into the curriculum this month in both English and Arabic.
November 10:
Science Day
.
December- There
will be a Winter Carnival at the
school, we will notify you about the date soon.
